Microsoft Privacy Professionals

Dedicated Microsoft professionals, who have a passion for privacy, develop and manage our privacy program.

  • More than 40 Microsoft employees focus on privacy full-time, supported by another 400 across the company. They work to give individuals more control over their personal information and to help organizations to manage data responsibly.
  • Microsoft recognized the importance of privacy in the digital age many years ago and was one of the first companies to appoint a Chief Privacy Officer.
  • Microsoft's central privacy team, which is part of our Trustworthy Computing group, manages the company’s overall privacy strategy—developing and implementing programs that enhance the privacy protections in Microsoft products, services, processes, and systems.

A privacy community around the globe helps to ensure that privacy policies, procedures, and technologies are applied within our business units. This community includes a three-tiered group of privacy experts, leads, and managers who work with developers, marketers, lawyers, and business executives to constantly monitor Microsoft products and services and provide guidance on privacy-related issues.

Our commitment to privacy extends throughout the company. All new employees receive privacy training, and everyone at Microsoft is encouraged to learn more about their role and accountability to respect customer privacy and information security in their everyday activities. To date, more than 52,000 people have taken "Privacy 101," an interactive online course that provides guidance on how to handle basic privacy scenarios.
