Capture One 4 is a RAW workflow solution for producing superior photographic image quality. It is the next generation of Capture One LE.

Q. What are the improvements from Capture One LE to Capture One 4?

Capture One 4 has been built on a new architecture and incorporates what the users found best from previous generations of Capture One. It offers a simplified user interface, features designed for more powerful image quality, workflow enhancements and faster response times.

These new attributes are the result of a software development process designed to permit the application to keep pace with the rapid advancements occurring throughout the digital photography industry.

  • Easier to use—Simplified user interface focused on images. Improved workflow tools support photographers' needs in diverse situations (e.g. multi-up image viewing, better shortcuts, easy adjustments of multiple images).
  • High Dynamic Range—Easy recovery of details in highlights and shadows in images with a large dynamic range.
  • Variants—Experiment with different looks from one RAW image with virtually no disk and performance overhead.
  • Web contact sheet—Set up theme-based web contact sheets to share work with clients.
  • Multiple up viewing—View up to 12 images, full resolution simultaneously in the new Viewer.
  • Users can manage and transfer their license codes, so it can be used on one computer one day and on another computer the next.

Q. How often will new cameras be added?

We will continuously update the software to support new cameras.

Q. Will Capture One 4 continue to be sold in retail stores?

Yes. At launch, on 19 December, Capture One 4 will be available through Phase One's e-shop. Beginning January 2008 the application will be available through partner retail networks.

Q. When will Capture One PRO be available?

Capture One PRO is in development and will be released in 2008. Phase One will provide more information further into the development process.

Q. Did Phase One's recent alliance with Microsoft impact this software development?

No, Microsoft was not involved in the development of this software.
