Interoperability Principles Protocol Documentation

As part of the Microsoft Interoperability Principles, Microsoft commits that all the protocols in its high-volume products that are used by any other Microsoft product will be made openly available. Documentation is made available without charge and without restriction on the MSDN Library in the Open Specifications area.

Currently, the following protocol sets are available:

Microsoft Office Protocol Documentation
The Microsoft Office protocol documentation provides specifications for protocols that are implemented in Office client applications and are used to communicate with other Microsoft products.

Microsoft SharePoint Server Protocol Documentation
The Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies protocol documentation provides specifications for protocols that are implemented in Office SharePoint Server software and are used to communicate with other Microsoft products.

Microsoft Exchange Server Protocol Documentation
The Microsoft Exchange Server protocol documentation provides specifications for protocols that are implemented in Exchange Server and are used to communicate with Microsoft Office Outlook and other Microsoft products.

Microsoft SQL Server Protocol Documentation
The Microsoft SQL Server protocol documentation provides specifications for Microsoft proprietary protocols that are used by Microsoft SQL Server to communicate with other Microsoft products.
