Plugfests and Interop Labs
In order to foster innovation with our customers and partners, Microsoft frequently hosts Plugfests and Interop Labs to focus on testing protocol implementations that address specific technical issues facing customers today.
Plugfests
Microsoft organizes Plugfests that focus on specific tasks and areas of technology. These events provide attendees with presentations on protocol technology and tools, a chance to test their protocol implementations, and access to Microsoft technical staff who can answer their questions.
Microsoft hosted a Plugfest for licensees of streaming media protocols. At the event, attendees received briefings from key product team members and were able to participate in group and private question-and-answer sessions. They were also able to lab test their server implementations for interoperability with Microsoft clients. A participant at the event, John Senior (Software Engineering Manager at VBrick Systems, Inc., a digital video appliance and enterprise systems provider) provides a testimonial to the success of this event in the VBrick Systems case study.
Interoperability Labs
A world-class Interoperability Lab in the Microsoft Enterprise Engineering Center is available to test MCPP protocol implementations. Access to these facilities is subject to availability and standard terms and conditions. Fees will be waived for protocol licensees. The Enterprise Engineering Center, located on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington, offers direct access to Microsoft product development teams and in-person support from experienced engineering staff during testing. Testing in this facility requires extensive setup and resources. Use of these labs is scheduled in the order requests are received.
