The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest volunteer-based humanitarian organization, providing assistance across the globe through 187 member Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

The IFRC acts as a leading humanitarian organization focused on addressing some of the world’s biggest challenges including human suffering, disaster relief, social inclusion and peace around the world. It also works to strengthen the capacity of its member nations through its work in key focus areas such as: promoting human values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care.

The IFRC and Microsoft are working together to address the digital divide across its member Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies that help more than 150 million people each year. Through the partnership, Microsoft supports and provides IT solutions for IFRC in order to give IFRC employees more time and energy to focus on their mandate of serving the world’s most vulnerable people. Microsoft provides IFRC with innovative cloud technology and online services including Office365, online training for employees, and premises licenses for countries with limited resources, with a goal to improve communications and reduce costs.

  • Danish Red Cross

The Danish Red Cross wanted to reduce communication costs by transitioning messaging and collaboration to the cloud. Employees started using Microsoft Office 365 to communicate and found more cost-efficient ways to share information across borders.

  • American Red Cross

The American Red Cross used a variety of email systems and couldn’t reach all 40,000 employees with one message. By moving to Microsoft Office 365 their problem was solved, and they were able to more efficiently help people in time of need.
