Configuring access policy

You can use Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server to configure an access policy, which consists of site and content rules, protocol rules, and Internet protocol (IP) packet filters. You create an array-level access policy, for stand-alone servers and arrays.

For arrays, you can alternatively create an enterprise-level access policy, an array-level access policy, or a combination of rules at both the enterprise and array levels. For more specific information on enterprise and array policies, see Applying enterprise policy.

Access policy rules apply to all types of clients: Firewall clients, secure network address translation (SecureNAT) clients, and Web Proxy clients. For more specific information, see ISA Server clients.
