To create a new Group Policy object

1.

Open Active Directory Users and Computers to create a Group Policy object that is linked to a domain or to an organizational unit.

Open Active Directory Sites and Services to create a Group Policy object that is linked to a site.

In the console tree, right-click the site, domain, or organizational unit to which you want the newly created Group Policy object to be linked. (The Group Policy object will be stored in the current domain, that is, the domain that contains the domain controller that is being used by Active Directory Users and Computers or Active Directory Sites and Services.)

Click Properties, and then click the Group Policy tab.

Click New, type a name for the Group Policy object, and then click Close.

To start Active Directory Users and Computers, open a Remote Desktop Connection to either a Windows 2000 domain controller or a member server that has Windows 2000 Administration Tools installed. You must log on to the server as a domain administrator in order to complete this procedure.

The newly created Group Policy object is linked by default to the site, domain, or organizational unit that you select when you create the Group Policy object, and its settings apply to that site, domain, or organizational unit.
