To open Group Policy as a stand-alone MMC snap-in

1.

Open Microsoft Management Console

On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.

On the Standalone tab, click Add.

4.

In the Available Standalone Snap-ins list, click Group Policy, and then click Add.

5.

In the Select Group Policy object dialog box, click Local Computer to edit the local Group Policy object, or click Browse to find the Group Policy object that you want.

6.

Click Finish, click Close, and then click OK. The Group Policy snap-in opens the Group Policy object for editing.

 Note

To open Microsoft Management Console (MMC), click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.

If you want to save the Group Policy console, and you want to be able to choose which Group Policy object opens in it from the command line, select the Allow focus of the Group Policy Snap-in to be changed when launching from the command line check box in the Select Group Policy object dialog box.
