To establish a direct infrared network connection between computers

1.

Open Network Connections

2.

Double-click Make New Connection, and then click Next.

3.

In Network Connection Type, click Advanced connection, and then click Next.

4.

In Advanced Connection Options, click Connect directly to another computer, and then click Next. 

5.

In Host or Guest, specify whether this computer is being used to access information on another computer or whether it has the information that needs to be accessed by doing one of the following:

If this computer has information that will be accessed by another computer, click Host.

If this computer is being used to access information on another computer, click Guest.

6.

Click Next, and then do one of the following:

If you specified this computer as a host, in Device for this connection, select Infrared Port.

If you specified this computer as a guest, in Select a device, select Infrared Port.

7.

Click Next, and then do one of the following:

If you specified this computer as a host, in Users Permissions, follow the directions to specify the users you will allow to connect.

If you specified this computer as a guest, in Default Connection, follow the directions to specify default connection settings.

8.

Enter a name for the connection, and then click Finish.

Note

To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections

To examine or change properties for this connection, right-click its icon in Network Connections.

After you add an infrared device, you may have to restart the computer before you can select Infrared Port in step six.
