To isolate problems using the Startup tab

You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.

1.

Click the Startup tab.

2.

To begin troubleshooting, clear all check boxes.

3.

Starting with the first check box, select the check boxes one at a time, and then restart the computer as prompted until the symptoms can be reproduced.

Note

You may want to print this Help topic before restarting your computer, because you will not be able to open Help during startup.

The Startup tab lists items loading at startup from the Startup group, Win.ini load= and run=, and the registry.
