To collect performance data by using WMI

At a command prompt, type

mmc.exe path\perfmon.msc /sysmon_wmi

where path is the full path to the saved console file, for example, %systemroot%\system32

To open command prompt, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt

This procedure obtains performance data by means of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) instead of the registry.

You can also perform this procedure at a command prompt by typing

perfmon.exe /wmi
