To add an AppleTalk printing device port

1.

Open Printers and Faxes

2.

Double-click Add Printer, and then click Next.

3.

Click Local printer, clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer check box, and then click Next.

4.

Click Create a new port, click AppleTalk Printing Devices, and then click Next.

5.

In the AppleTalk Printing Devices list, click the AppleTalk printer you want to add, and then click OK.

6.

Click Yes to capture this AppleTalk printer.

 Important

If you capture a printer, some users may be unable to print to it.

7.

Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the AppleTalk printer.

To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes

You can also add ports on the Ports tab in the Print Server Properties dialog box. To open the Print Server Properties dialog box, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers and Faxes. On the File menu, click Server Properties.

AppleTalk Printing Devices is available only when AppleTalk protocol is installed. If AppleTalk Printing Devices is not available, click Cancel to close the Add Printer Wizard and follow the procedures to add optional networking components (see Related Topics).

Your system must use the AppleTalk protocol if you want to add an AppleTalk printing device. You might need other Macintosh services if you want to coexist with an AppleTalk network system. For more information, see Related Topics.

Print Server for Macintosh is not available on Windows XP 64-Bit Edition.
