Operations Management Server
Microsoft has created the processor-based licensing model to simplify the acquisition and maintenance of server software licenses. Microsoft Operations Manager is licensed only on a per-processor basis, and so it does not have the server licenses, client access licenses (CALs), or Internet connector licenses that can be associated with other server products.
An Operations Management License (OML) is required for each device managed by Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 server. A device can be a single server, single personal computer, workstation, terminal, handheld computer, pager, telephone, personal digital assistant, or other electronic device.
For more information on purchasing MOM 2005 please go to http://www.microsoft.com/mom/howtobuy/default.mspx
If you want to manage Microsoft BackOffice® or .NET Enterprise Server applications you must also purchase—in addition to the base processor license—an Application Management Pack processor license. Application Management Pack processor licenses are required for each processor on each managed device running Microsoft BackOffice or .NET Enterprise Server applications that is monitored and/or managed by the Microsoft Operations Manager server. (For a list of the modules included in this management pack, refer to the Application Management Pack overview.)
