Your customer’s Software Use Policy should cover the company’s rules for downloading, installing, and using software titles. A good Software Use Policy will help keep your customer’s system free from viruses, reduce the number of support calls, and keep the software inventory up-to-date.

Some points you may want to include are:

  • A reminder to review the terms and conditions for each license to ensure proper usage
  • The process for authorizing software installs (i.e. assign one person to either install software or record software installations)
  • How the company will monitor all Internet and downloading activities
  • Where the terms and conditions will be kept so they may be easily accessed by all employees

It’s important that all employees receive a copy of the Software Use Policy and understand what they can and cannot do with the company’s software and hardware.

Service Opportunity

You may offer a Software Use Training Session(s) to your customer as a service you can provide to ensure all employees understand the rules.
