Lottery fraud is one of the fastest growing and most threatening forms of Internet crime. Lottery fraud is the best known form of Advance Fee Fraud (AFF), a crime in which the victim is deceived into paying money in advance for a fictitious gift or cash prize.
Lottery fraud already costs consumers around the world millions of dollars every year. Now there are concerns that criminals will increase fraudulent activity to take advantage of people who are concerned with or affected by the global economic downturn.
To help prevent this victimization, Microsoft has formed an alliance with other companies that are affected by lottery fraud to gather and analyze data on lottery fraud victims across the world. Microsoft will provide this intelligence to global law enforcement agencies to prosecute criminals who commit these kinds of fraud.
If you have lost money to a Microsoft lottery fraud, please help us to address the problem by telling your local police authority and providing a copy of the crime report to Microsoft.
You can send a copy of your crime report or the crime reference number to the following dedicated, Microsoft e-mail address: lotfraud@microsoft.com. Or you can mail details to Microsoft at this address:
