Privacy in Bing

Your searches can contain information about your tastes, interests, and shopping habits. Recognizing that you may have privacy concerns regarding your online searches, Microsoft designed Bing to help you manage your search history and to search more safely using SafeSearch.

Manage your search history

You can turn off the display of your search history at any time and easily turn it back on. You can also choose to clear only certain searches or clear them all with a click.

Turn off search history

This turns off the display of your search history.

  1. On the Bing homepage, click SEARCH HISTORY.

  2. On the Search History page, click Turn off.

Clear your search history

  1. On the Bing homepage, click SEARCH HISTORY.

  2. On the Search History page:
    • To clear a single search from your history, click the search item you want to clear, and then click Clear.
    • To clear your entire search history, click Clear all.

Filter offensive content with SafeSearch

Bing’s SafeSearch can help keep offensive and inappropriate content out of your search results.

  1. On the Bing homepage, click PreferencesBing Settings

  2. Under SafeSearch, choose how you want to filter adult content: Strict, Moderate (the default setting), or Off.
