Keeping online data private: Data Privacy Day January 28, 2009

Organizations and businesses in the United States, Europe, and Canada celebrate Data Privacy Day, which is dedicated to educating people about online privacy protections.

To commemorate the day, Microsoft commissioned research to examine consumer perceptions of online privacy issues. The findings led us to think about how we can build on our efforts to help consumers protect their personal information.

The research, which asked people of different ages about online privacy, formed the basis of "My Privacy: Safely Navigating Life Online," a 5-minute documentary:



Microsoft also hosted a privacy video competition for European teenagers, to understand how they view privacy and what concerns they have. Watch the winning entries:
