Security in Windows Vista: Setting a new standard

Protecting computer users is an industry-wide obligation, and with Windows Vista, Microsoft is taking steps to evolve the operating system with current and future threats in mind. Even with the great security advancements in Windows Vista, Microsoft can’t do it alone. Over the past two years Microsoft has invited developers and engineers from all across the industry to the Microsoft campus to provide consultation and guidance to make their products work seamlessly with Windows Vista.

For Windows Vista security our goals are simple:

  • Maintain a PC that is protected from malware such as viruses, spyware, worms, and other potentially unwanted software

  • Provide safer online experiences at home and at work

  • Gain an understanding of when a PC is unsafe, and know how to help make it safe again
