Rio - the Live Attendee Networking Tool

With most registered attendees profiled online, guests were able to check out who attended and request meetings.

Community Lounges
Organized by conference track, these informal lounges let attendees meet and interact with speakers, Microsoft employees, and other attendees with similar interests. Made up of 18 "Track Cabañas," the Community Lounges were the place to meet the technologists after a session. The Track Cabañas were designed to reflect the sun and surf theme of San Diego—a place where attendees could sit back, drink a smoothie, and dive deeper into relevant content with a small, informal group atmosphere. Community Lounge hardware was provided by AMD. AMD logo

Meet the Technologist Sessions
Attendees joined breakout session speakers, industry experts, and Microsoft staff in the Community Lounges to drill down into track-specific sessions and get answers to their important technical questions—all in an interactive environment.

Women in Technology Luncheon, Sponsored by Microsoft Windows Server System

It provided women the opportunity to make meaningful professional connections and gain access to industry leaders in an informal environment. Panelists included influential technology professionals Kimberly L. Tripp, Kate Gregory, Marie Huwe, Angela Mills, and Michèle Leroux Bustamante.

Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather helped attendees meet others with similar interests. Sponsored by the International .NET Association (INETA), Birds of a Feather sessions were nominated and moderated by the Tech·Ed attendees. They could nominate a topic of relevance to IT professionals or developers, and then have their peers vote and elect which subjects received a Birds of a Feather session.

Microsoft Technical Communities
Microsoft Technical Communities offered yet another great opportunity to interact with Microsoft staff, industry experts, and peers. Attendees shared knowledge and news about Microsoft products and related technologies at Tech·Ed 2004, and beyond, with these Microsoft Communities:
