 | Do More with Less
The Windows Server 2003 family is the next step in the ongoing evolution of the Windows server operating systems.
Windows Server 2003 builds on the proven reliability, scalability, and manageability of Windows 2000 Server, to deliver a highly productive infrastructure platform for powering connected applications, networks, and XML Web services - from the workgroup to the data center.
Windows Server 2003 is significantly more reliable, more scalable, more available, more manageable and faster than Windows NT Server. And it can be deployed and managed with less time, less effort, less complexity and low total cost of ownership.
Windows Server 2003 enables you to do more with less.

 | Find out how companies are using the Windows Server 2003 family to develop solutions that meet their business needs.
Microsoft
Microsoft's very first customer to deploy Windows Server 2003 is none other than Microsoft itself.
About 40 million unique users, on average, visit Microsoft.com every month, generating about 800 million total page views. Rolling out Windows Server 2003 so early in such a mission-critical environment ensures that valuable, production-tried feedback can reach the product development team in time for the team to make improvements to Windows Server 2003 before it is released.
1&1 Internet AG
German web host 1&1 Internet AG expects to increase capacity and decrease costs tenfold with Windows Server 2003. With the development of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 1&1 can now offer customers the interoperability and dependability they expect from Microsoft products at prices that make Windows a compelling new Web-hosting option, along with the company's established services. 1&1 expects at least half of its new business to come from customers who want the new Windows offerings - more than 20,000 new customers per month.
Avanade
Switching its terminal servers to run on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition enabled Avanade to significantly lower the cost of providing its worldwide user base with remote access to mission-critical client/server applications.
In addition to saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in hardware, third-party add-ons, and support costs, Avanade's new remote access solution has resulted in an 80-percent reduction in administrative overhead, a more seamless end-user experience, and a 99-percent reduction in downtime.
Det Norske Veritas
Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international provider of services for managing risk and ISO certification, decided to migrate its infrastructure from Microsoft Windows NT Server 4 to Windows Server 2003. By taking advantage of Active Directory, Internet Information Services, Terminal Services, and virtual private networking support, DNV expects to lower its total cost of ownership by about 5 percent or US$1 million per year; gain tighter - yet more flexible - security; and provide more seamless network access for employees, subcontractors, and customers.
Enterasys Networks
After realizing tremendous benefits from implementing its core infrastructure on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Enterasys Networks decided to take the next step to Windows Server 2003 to gain even greater improvements. In just three days, Enterasys was able to remotely deploy Windows Server to 20 Active Directory-based domain controller servers worldwide.
Based on the results of the initial stages of deployment, the company projects that the new operating system will deliver 99.999-percent uptime at its Enterprise Data Centers, a 20-percent reduction in management costs, a 60-percent reduction in application development time, and a 30-percent reduction in servers. Enterasys forecasts a full return on investment in 28 months.
