When you purchase Microsoft software off the shelf, or from an online or mail-order retailer, you are buying a Full Packaged Product (FPP). Although buying software this way is typically your most expensive option, it can be convenient. Plus, you may find price discounts as you comparison shop. There can be other benefits to buying from a retailer. For instance, you may receive a limited amount of free support from the Microsoft help line as a bonus. And if an upgrade comes out, you can buy that version for less than you would pay for the full version. Of course, as with other Microsoft software purchases, you are not buying the program itself. Instead, you receive a copy of the software license, with rights to use the program. |
