Microsoft Open Value Subscription
Savings Flash Intro Overview Simple Benefits

> Open Value Subscription provides low entry costs for you.

> Volume Licensing Pricing - Open Value Subscription provides you volume license pricing that is consistently less than paying for a few licenses at a time, in addition to company-wide discounts for all Enterprise products for even more savings.

> Three-year Payment Plan - the subscription is for three year terms, allowing you to spread out payments over those three years.

> Annual Adjustments - simply count your computers once a year. Your annual license fee is based on this year-end number, regardless of how many computers you add or subtract. When you add computers during a budget cycle, you won't face additional costs or retroactive costs. See Example for more information on how this works.

> Up-to-Date Discount of up to 50%* - you may own some recent version Microsoft software licenses for computers you want to put on the Open Value Subscription program. To help off-set the cost of conversion, Microsoft can give you up to 50% off the first year license fee for these computers if the licenses are the current version or one version old.

Here is a current list of products eligible for the Up-to-Date Discount:

Up-to-Date Discount Chart

Here's an example of how the payments are calculated in Open Value Subscription using the Up-to-Date Discount:

Initial Agreement/Start of Subscription: March 1, 2008

  • Company X owns 30 PCs

18 PCs with Microsoft Office Professional 2003 licenses, which is one version prior to the current 2007 version of Microsoft Office Professional. (These can be OEM, Retail Box, or Volume licenses.)

8 PCs with Microsoft Office 2000 Professional licenses, which is several versions old.

4 PCs with no Microsoft Office licenses.

  • Company X wants to have Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007 for their PCs.
  • When entering an Open Value Subscription Agreement for Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007, Company X would qualify for up to a 50%* first year discount pricing on 18 of those PCs since the 18 Microsoft® Office Professional Edition 2003 licenses they own are one version prior to the current version of Microsoft¨ Office Professional 2007.
  • The remaining 12 would not be eligible for the discount, because they are currently running a non-qualifying version or have no Office Professional licenses.

The subscription fee for the first year would be a full fee on only 12 machines, and half-off on 18.

Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007: $179*

Year One Subscription Fees:

18 PCs x $90 (Up-to-Date Discount price) = $1,620.00*

12 PCs x $179 = $ 2,148.00*

Total Year One Subscription Fee:$3,768.00*

  • Company X buys 8 new PCs just two months after starting their Open Value Subscription Agreement
  • Company X now has Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007 licenses for those 8 new PCs — NO CHARGE!

Company X has use of Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007 licenses for 10 months FREE of charge.

Year Two Agreement: March 1, 2009

1. Company X counts their total number of computers: 38 PCs (Initial 30 + 8 new PCs)

2. Company X pays annual subscription for all 38 PCs

 38 PCs x $179 = $6802

Total Year Two Subscription Fee: $ 6,802.00*

  • On November 30 Company X gets rid of 3 computers
  • No credit or refund is issued for removal of 3 licenses during the year two agreement

Year Three Agreement: March 1, 2010

1. Company X counts their total number of computers: 35 PCs (38 Ð 3 removed PCs)

Overall Open Value Subscription Savings

If Company X had purchased these Office Professional Plus 2007 licenses through the Open License or Open Value non-subscription programs with similar benefits for its computers, the total payments over the same three-year period would have been between 65%* and 110%* higher based on current Estimated Retail Prices for these programs. By choosing the Open Value Subscription Program for their purchase, Company X can now use these savings for other important business needs instead.

End of Agreement: March 1, 2011

1. Company X counts their total number of computers: 35 PCs

2. Company X now can choose to:

a. Renew the subscription for 35 licenses
b. Convert the 35 Microsoft® Office Professional Plus to perpetual licenses with buy-out option
c. Remove software from computers
