Assessment Tool for SOA & Business Process

What are the most critical elements to improving your organization’s service orientation and supporting more efficient business processes?

Microsoft has created a quick self assessment based on common business practices that can help you build a snapshot of your Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Business Process capability today.

Use your assessment results to consider your IT investments to fuel business growth and identify technology areas for further investigation.

This assessment is organized into 3 areas:

  • Service Implementation: Identifies the set of capabilities necessary to strengthen and optimize the design and development of enterprise business and system services and processes. These capabilities will promote consistency across development groups and platforms.
  • Service Consumption: Identifies the set of capabilities necessary to streamline service adoption to enhance the consumption of enterprise services by others. These capabilities will help maximize the use and reuse of services and composite applications.
  • Service Administration: Identifies the set of capabilities necessary to support the operational needs of services and to facilitate enterprise governance. These capabilities will promote visibility and coordination across the elements of your SOA infrastructure.

There are optimal activities that Microsoft has identified to support these three areas at various levels of maturity. The specific requirements of your business should help you determine the level of maturity that your organization should aim to achieve in each of these areas.

Take the assessment now now to evaluate your IT investments.

What to expect:

Time Required to complete assessment: 15 – 20 minutes

Once you have registered and completed an assessment, you will have access to:

  • An accurate profile of your organization based on a vendor-agnostic structure.
  • Aggregate ‘Peer Comparisons’ reports by industry, organization size and development organization size.

You will also be able to measure your progress by archiving and comparing each report with previous reports, as well as the ability to export the reports.

Microsoft may contact the owner of a completed assessment in order to discuss this assessment and advise on next steps. In most cases Microsoft will recommend you work with a partner to review the report, develop an impact map that shows which practice areas & practices impact your business the most, and create a solution roadmap.
