32-bit systems have a 3-gigabyte address space limitation that, for large SAP R/3 implementations, has become insufficient for all SAP work processes. SQL Server 2000 (64-bit) provides higher amounts of data buffers, as well as support for new features of SAP R/3 Enterprise such as Unicode encoding and SAP Business Warehouse. This document explains the advantages of running SAP applications on SQL Server 2000 (64-bit) and the advantages of 64-bit systems in general.
