Winter Corporation’s Spotlight on SQL Server
Key Findings from the 2005 WinterCorp Top Ten Program. “The 2005 results reveal significant strengths for Microsoft SQL Server in the very large database (VLDB) market for both data warehouse (DW) and transaction processing (OLTP) systems.”
Winter Corporation’s 2005 TopTen Survey solidifies the growing position of SQL Server as the data management platform of the world’s largest and most heavily used databases. SQL Server customers showed up in greater numbers with impressive increases in database volumes and row counts—with phenomenal growth over 2003. Forty-three survey entries, or 25 percent of all survey entries, of more than 1 terabyte use SQL Server. This was the largest showing ever and included eight databases of more than 5 terabytes.
