Introducing Web Slices and Accelerators - new features from Internet Explorer 8!
Web Slices
How many times a day do you check for updates to e-mail, online discounts, sports scores, auction items, and so on? Now you don’t have to do it manually — all it takes (after installing Internet Explorer 8)
is to look on your favorite pages for the green Web Slices icon
in the upper left hand
corner of the browser. Click on the icon to easily subscribe and add the Web Slice to the Favorites
bar so you can keep track of that "slice" of the Web.
When new information becomes available, the Web Slice icon will be highlighted. When you click on the
Web Slice on the Favorites bar, a preview of the new information will be visible.

Accelerators
Until now, routine tasks like mapping an address, e-mailing, or searching on the Web was a series of cutting
and pasting information from one page to another. The new Accelerators feature in
Internet Explorer 8 offers a better way. Just highlight text on any Web page, and then click
on the blue Accelerator icon that appears above your selection to obtain driving directions, translate or
define words, e-mail content to others, search with ease, and more. For example, by using the "Map with
Live Search Maps" Accelerator, you can get an in-place view of a map displayed directly on the
page.
