Switch between open apps

You can open multiple apps from the Start screen and switch between them using touch, mouse or the keyboard. Sometimes you might want to return to an app you were recently using.


Switch to the last app you were using

With touch, swipe in from the left edge.
With a mouse, move your pointer into the upper-left corner, and then click the corner.
From the keyboard, press Alt+Tab.

Switch to an app you were using recently

See recently used apps and tap the one you want

With touch, swipe in from the left edge without lifting your finger, and then push back toward the left edge. You'll see the apps you've used recently. Tap the app you want.

See recently used apps and click the one you want

With a mouse, move the pointer into the upper-left corner and move it down the left edge. You’ll see the apps you’ve used recently. Click the one you want.

From the keyboard, hold down the Windows logo key Windows logo key icon and press the Tab key to switch between open apps. For more info, see Mouse and keyboard: What’s new.
