Standard limited warranty coverage

With the standard express warranty you get:

  • One year of express warranty for hardware defects and malfunctions.
  • 90 days of technical support for preinstalled software from the experts at the Microsoft Answer Desk for Surface.

This warranty is given in addition to other rights and remedies you may have under law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being replaced. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods. Microsoft Complete

In addition to the standard express warranty, you have the option to purchase additional protection for your Surface. (Not available in all countries or regions.)

With Microsoft Complete, you get:

  • Two years of technical support from the Answer Desk.
  • An additional year of limited warranty coverage.
  • Accidental damage protection—even from drops and spills.*

You can add Complete up to 45 days after purchase. Just bring your device to a Microsoft Store location for inspection and processing.

*Deductible applies for accidental damage claims: limit two claims
