OneDrive and Windows Backup are two ways you can back up your photos, documents, and other important files on your Surface.

Note: As an alternative to these apps, you may consider using an external USB drive to manually back up your files.

Use OneDrive

Use OneDrive to back up your files, and even your PC settings. For more info, see Back up your folders with OneDrive.

Use Windows Backup

  1. To open Windows Backup, select Start, type windows backup, and select it from the results.

  2. Select Back up and, if prompted, sign in with your Microsoft account (the same account you'll use when you get the device back from the service center).

  3. Follow any on-screen prompts from the app about what to back up, then wait for the backup to complete.

For detailed steps and more information, see Back up your Windows PC.
