Charge and pair your Wireless Adapter

Before you use your Wireless Adapter the first time, you need to do two things:

  • Charge it fully. Connect the charging cable to the adapter and to a powered USB port. You can use the adapter while you are charging it.
  • Allow 4 or 5 hours to charge the adapter the first time you use it, or any time the battery is drained.
  • The Wireless Adapter is compatible with Touch Cover, Touch Cover 2, Type Cover or Type Cover 2.
  • Pair it with your Surface. Here’s how:
Step 1:  Attach the Wireless Adapter to a Surface Typing Cover.
Step 2:  From the Start screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings.)
Step 3:  Tap or click Change PC settings, then tap or click PC and devices.
Step 4:  Tap or click Bluetooth.
Make sure Bluetooth is set to On.
Step 5:  Press and hold the power button on the adapter. When the status light flashes, it’s ready to pair.
Step 6: Tap or click Wireless Adapter for Typing Covers, then tap or click Pair.

Use your Wireless Adapter

Attach the Wireless Adapter to a Cover and work up to 30 feet away from the Surface that’s paired to the adapter.

When you aren’t using the Cover, remove the adapter or turn it off by pressing the power button. This saves the battery charge.
