Wireless Adapter for Typing Covers

Connect your Surface Typing Cover to your Surface wirelessly. The Wireless Adapter for Surface Typing Covers provides power and Bluetooth® connectivity to your Surface Cover, enabling you to type from up to 30 feet away.

Note
The Wireless Adapter for Typing Covers is compatible with Touch Cover, Touch Cover 2, Type Cover, and Type Cover 2.

Charging connector and charging port

Plug the adapter in any time, whether you’re using the adapter or not. The charging port is a standard mini-USB port.

Magnetic connector

The magnetic connector on the adapter clicks into your Surface Typing Cover the same way your Surface does.

Power button

Press the power button on the adapter to turn it on. When the adapter is on, press the power button to turn it off. To help extend its battery life, the adapter turns itself off when you remove it from the Typing Cover or when you don’t use it for an hour.

Charge and pair your Wireless Adapter

Before you use your Wireless Adapter for the first time, charge it fully, and pair it your Surface.

Charge your Wireless Adapter

Connect the charging cord to the adapter and plug it to a powered USB port. You can use the adapter while you’re charging it. Allow four or five hours to charge the adapter the first time you use it or any time the battery is drained.

Pair your Wireless Adapter with your Surface

Step 1: Attach your Wireless Adapter to your Surface Typing Cover.
Step 2:Go to Start Windows logo, select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth, and make sure Bluetooth is On.
Step 3: Press and hold the power button on the adapter. When the status light flashes, it’s ready to pair.
Step 4: Select Wireless Adapter for Typing Cover, and select Pair.

Attach your Wireless Adapter to your Cover and work up to 30 feet away from your Surface.

Step 4: Tap or click Bluetooth.
Make sure Bluetooth is On.
Step 5: Press and hold the power button on the adapter. When the status light flashes, it’s ready to pair.
Step 6: Tap or click Wireless Adapter for Typing Covers, and tap or click Pair.
