Use the AT&T AllAccess app

The AT&T AllAccess app lets you quickly see AT&T mobile broadband account notifications, create a mobile hotspot, check your data usage, and find a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Finding the app

The AT&T AllAccess app comes pre-installed on Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE). If you are using AT&T mobile broadband via an external SIM card dongle, you may want to install the app from the Windows Store. Not sure if the app is installed? Here’s how to check:

  • Search for the app. From the Start screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Search, and in the search box enter AllAccess. Or, if you’re using a keyboard, just start typing the app name. The search results update as you type. In the search results, tap or click AT&T to open the app.
  • Look in Apps view. Slide up from the middle of the screen to get to Apps view.
  • (If you’re using a mouse, click the down arrow Down arrow icon in the near the lower-left corner of the screen.) In the search results, tap or click AT&T to open the app.

If you don’t have the app installed already, here’s how to install it:

Step 1: From the Start screen, tap or click Store.
Step 2: Make sure you’re signed in with your Microsoft account.
Step 3: In the search box, enter AT&T AllAccess, tap or click the app, and then tap or click Install.

Got the app? Great—let’s explore what you can do.

Using for the first time?

The first time you use the AT&T AllAccess app, what you’ll see on the screen depends on the state of your SIM card.

  • If you have an AT&T SIM card that’s associated with an active AT&T data plan in your Surface, you’ll see three panels. The first is for notifications and setting up a mobile hotspot, the second for account information, and the third for helping you find a Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • If you don’t have an AT&T SIM card inserted in Surface, you’ll see the View Account panel when you open the app. Turn off your Surface, insert your AT&T SIM card, and then restart your Surface to get started.
  • If you have an AT&T SIM card in your Surface, but you don’t have an active data plan associated with it, you’ll see the Activate Tablet panel. Tap or click Activate to go to the AT&T website and either establish a new account or add your SIM card to an existing account. Once your SIM card is associated with an active AT&T data plan, you won’t see this panel.

Notifications

The Notifications section of the app is where you will find messages sent by AT&T. Tap or click Notifications to see your messages. In addition to other AT&T messages, it will show you data use notifications if you have the data alert feature set up (see below for more info about setting up the alert).

If you don’t see notifications and you think that you should, you may have your notification permission turned off. To check:

Step 1: With the AT&T AllAccess open, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap or click Settings.
Step 2: Tap or click Permissions, and then tap or click to turn notifications on or off.

Mobile Hotspot

Mobile Hotspot lets you share your AT&T mobile broadband Internet connection with up to 10 other devices, such as laptops or tablets. Tap or click Mobile Hotspot, and then follow the onscreen instructions. For info on how to set this up, see Set up a mobile hotspot.

Notes
  • Syncing or sending data across a mobile broadband connection could result in extra charges. For more info, see Manage your mobile broadband data use.
  • You must have a data plan that allows you to share connections. If you don’t, or aren’t sure if yours offers sharing, tap or click My account to go to the AT&T website and change or check your plan.

My Account

In My Account you can see info about your data use, including international roaming, and set up a data alert. You can also tap or click My Account > to open the AT&T website and sign in to your account.

Set data alert

To help make sure you don’t unexpectedly go past your data limit, you can set an alert to let you know when you’ve used a specific amount. To do this:

Step 1: In the DataConnect panel, tap or click the box next to Set data alert.
Step 2: Slide the marker along the bar to select a data amount.

When you’ve used the amount of data you’ve set, a notification letting you know will briefly appear on the screen you're viewing as well as in the Notifications section of the app.

Wi-Fi Finder

Connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot can help you conserve data on your plan. The AT&T AllAccess Wi-Fi Finder shows you AT&T hotspots near your location.

  • To see a detailed map of nearby AT&T hotspot locations, tap or click Wi-Fi Finder.
  • To get turn-by-turn directions to a hotspot or to share the location with others, tap or click on one of the marked hotspot locations.

If you don’t see any nearby hotspots, it may be that your location permission is turned off. To check:

Step 1: With the AT&T AllAccess open, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap or click Settings.
Step 2: Tap or click Permissions, and then tap or click to turn your location on or off.
