Share photos and webpages

When you come across something that you want to share, use the Share charm. You can share with a few people, your entire social network, or another app.


Turn on sharing for apps

To change what apps let you share photos, webpages, and files, follow these steps:

Step 1: From the Start screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
Step 2: Tap or click Change PC settings, and then tap or click Search and apps.
Step 3: Tap or click Share, and then turn sharing on or off for the apps that are displayed.
Note
When you share things you are sending data. Syncing or sending data across a mobile broadband connection could result in extra charges. For more info, see Manage your mobile broadband data use.

Share photos

Use the Share charm to share photos and videos with friends and family directly from the Photos app.

Step 1: From the Start screen, open the Photos, OneDrive (formerly called SkyDrive), or Camera app.
Step 2: Do one of the following:

  • In the Photos or OneDrive app, go to the folder with the photos you want to share, and then swipe down on or right-click those photos. You can also choose Select all.
  • In the Camera app, go into the camera roll and find the photo you want to share.

Step 3: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Share.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Share.)
Step 4: Tap or click the person or app you want to share with, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip
For more sharing options, search for apps in the Windows Store that can post to your favorite social networking or photo sharing sites.

Share a webpage

Step 1: Browse to a webpage that you want to share.
Step 2: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Share.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Share.)
Step 3: Tap or click Mail or one of your email contacts, and follow the on-screen instructions.
