Microsoft Surface Collage enables you to arrange your own photos and effortlessly save the arrangement as an impressive, designed desktop background.

Using Microsoft Surface CollageAs you explore and interact with your photos in Microsoft Surface Collage, you can:

  • Save your collage as a picture by tapping the Save button in the lower-right corner of the screen. Microsoft Surface Collage saves your image to your Pictures\Microsoft Surface Collage folder.
  • Set your collage picture as your desktop background when you save an image of your collage. On the Save collage card, tap the Set it as the desktop background check box before you tap Save.
  • Customize your collage by tapping the Options button in the lower-left corner of the screen, picking a color, and then choosing a background style and a photo border style.
  • You can set all your pictures to open in Collage. For more information on this feature, see the Library topic in Windows 7 Help.
  • Open specific pictures in Microsoft Surface Collage by right-clicking the image file, and then clicking Open in Microsoft Surface Collage.
  • You can also use natural touch gestures to browse your pictures and videos and to explore and share your content.


Interacting with Microsoft Surface CollageYou can interact with Microsoft Surface Collage by using the following touch gestures:

  • Touch a photo and slide it in any direction.
  • To move a photo from the filmstrip to the canvas, tap or slide it.
  • Touch-and-turn a photo by using one finger or twist it by using two fingers.
  • To scale a photo, use two fingers. Push fingers together on a photo to shrink it, and pull them fingers apart to enlarge it.
  • To send a photo in your collage to the back or the front, touch-and-hold a photo to send it to the back; touch it again to bring it to the front.
  • Scroll photos by sliding your finger left or right along the photos in the filmstrip. If you have a lot of photos, you can slide the scrollbar as well!
