There are several new or upgraded tools and utilities available for users of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) 2008. For those, trying to troubleshoot issues with VMM, be sure to check out the new Configuration Analyzer which can help administrators keep their systems in tip top shape. Also, the new Offline Servicing tool has been upgraded for VMM 2008 and ensures that inactive virtual machines are kept up to date.

Hyper-V Security Guide Beta release available

The Hyper-V Security Guide highlights the use of SCVMM to administer different aspects of a virtual machine infrastructure and control administrative access to different servers. Available now: Offline Virtual Machine Servicing Tool 2.0

This popular Solution Accelerator for Virtual Machine Servicing has been updated to support Hyper-V and the latest versions of Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM 2008), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and System Center Configuration Manager. This solution (which is backwards-compatible with version 1.0 of the accelerator), automates patching of virtual machines which may have become vulnerable or non compliant from being offline for an extended period.
