ISA Server 2004 Standard Edition only
Before you set up Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 Standard Edition, review Installation requirements.
As part of the installation options, you will specify addresses in the Internal network. For information about the Internal network, see Default Internal network.
| • | To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group. |
When you install ISA Server, you will be requested to supply the following information.
1. | CD key. This is the 10-digit number located on the back of the ISA Server CD-ROM case. | ||||||
2. | Installation options. You can select one of the following:
| ||||||
3. | Internal network configuration. You must configure the address ranges to include in the Internal network. |
Note that if all the network adapters are disabled or disconnected, no IP addresses are listed in the Construct Internal Network dialog box. When there are no enabled network adapters, you are not required to specify a local IP address in the Internal network range. However, we recommend that you add this range of IP addresses:
0.0.0.1 - 255.255.255.254
As part of the installation process, ISA Server modifies the TCP/IP driver's dynamic port range, setting it to 65,535. This modification will take effect after the computer is restarted. Note that your computer is not automatically restarted after ISA Server is installed.
| Stopping and disabling services | |
| Installing the Firewall Client Share |
As part of the installation process, the following services are disabled:
| • | Internet Connection Firewall or Internet Connection Sharing |
| • | IP Network Address Translation |
In addition, the following services are stopped during installation:
| • | SNMP service |
| • | FTP Publishing service |
| • | Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) |
| • | IIS Admin service |
| • | World Wide Web Publishing service |
When you select to install the Firewall Client Share, the files that a computer requires to install the Firewall Client software are copied to a folder on the computer. The folder is shared with Read permissions for the Everyone group.
When you install the share, the system policy rule named Allow access to firewall client share to trusted computers, which allows clients on the Internal network to access the share, is enabled. This rule allows the clients to install the software from the share. For more information, see System policy overview.
