BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) includes full support for Microsoft Visio® 2002 and updates the BizTalk Server application code to increase performance and improve manageability.

SP2 can either be applied to an original installation of BizTalk Server or to one where Service Pack 1a (SP1a) was previously applied. The service pack will work for all editions: BizTalk Server Enterprise Edition, BizTalk Server Standard Edition, BizTalk Server Developer Edition, and BizTalk Server Evaluation Edition. After installing this service pack, the updated documentation in BizTalk Server 2000 Help will be labeled Enterprise Edition, regardless of the edition of BizTalk Server that is actually installed on your computer.

Improvements in SP2 include:

Updates to the BizTalk Server 2000 documentation to correct problems associated with displaying the content of the help file using Internet Explorer 6.0.

Fixes to support clustered scenarios including private message queues.

New stored procedures that archive and delete interchange and document records in the Tracking database.*

New stored procedures that delete records in the Orchestration Persistence database.*

The ability to configure user name and password information for proxy servers when connecting to an HTTP transport service.

For a full list of the updates included in SP2, read the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, List of Bugs Fixed in BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 2.

Installation Overview

1.

Download the 10.5 megabyte (MB) setup program and the 86 kilobyte (KB) SP2 Readme file to your local computer.

2.

Review the Readme file for SP2.

3.

For BizTalk Server groups (available in Enterprise, Evaluation, and Developer editions) you will need to stop all BizTalk Server related services: Interchange Application, XLANG Scheduler, Messaging Service, XLANG Schedule Restart Service, Internet Information Server (IIS) Admin Service, and Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation. You will need to run the setup program on each BizTalk Server and make sure that any pending messages in the BizTalk Server queues are processed.

4.

Run the setup program.

5.

For BizTalk Server groups, you will need to run the stored procedure CleanQueuesPath.sql on the InterchangeSQ database that is used by the server group.

6.

Restart your server.

7.

Perform the additional steps in Enterprise Manager, described in the Readme file, for adding the updates to your Tracking and Orchestration Persistence databases.

* Additional setup is required in Enterprise Manager. Review the Readme file for more information.
