As part of the 2008 Winter Scripting Games the Script Center is profiling competitors who recorded a perfect score in the 2007 Scripting Games. Here, in his own words, is a little something about David Moravec, who received a perfect score in the VBScript Beginners division.

I am a 30-year-old system administrator from the Czech Republic. I live in Prague, which is also known as the most beautiful city in the world :-) I started my IT career 10 years ago and, because it was shortly after high school, I had no idea about the real world. My first job was to maintain a network of 100 computers (Windows 95) with no central server (yes, it's true -- brrr). After several months in that job we bought a Windows NT4 server and my real administrative work started. Now I work in one of the “Big Four” companies, and my current job is mainly related to SMS 2003. The rest of my time is spent playing with AD, file servers, DNS and other funny matters. In opposition to a lot of my colleagues, I believe that the mouse is not everything, and that Power is in Shell. (Do you believe that I competed in the VBScript section of the Scripting Games?)
I believe that the art of script creating is one of the most amazing things an administrator can do. (Regardless of all the blunders you can make during the process; I think you all know :-)
Scripting Tips
Don't believe that I am the only one who can tell you something useful. However, if you will follow the “scripting trinity” you'll have success. That trinity is this:
1. | Check all available sources. |
2. | Don't hesitate to ask others. |
3. | Most important: practice. |
