As part of the 2008 Winter Scripting Games the Script Center is profiling competitors who recorded a perfect score in the 2007 Scripting Games. Here, in his own words, is a little something about Andy Schneider, who received a perfect score in the Windows PowerShell Advanced division.
Check out more Profiles in Perfection from the 2007 Scripting Games.
Andy Schneider is a Systems Engineer for Avanade, a joint venture of Microsoft and Accenture. He was an early adopter of Windows PowerShell, or Monad, back in the day, and continues to use it on a daily basis. He has built out a farm of virtual servers that he manages with Virtual Machine Manager and is looking forward to deploying System Center and customizing it with PowerShell. Andy loves to script, because it allows him to get involved in a wide variety of projects, from SQL Server to Active Directory; everything needs a bit of automation! When he is not scripting, Andy loves to spend time with his wife Raissa and his 1-year-old daughter, Madeline. Andy also has a blog up at http://www.get-powershell.com, which will hopefully have some more entries by the time this biography is published.
Tip
The only way to really learn PowerShell is to start using it. I would challenge people to drop CMD and use PowerShell for your everyday tasks as much as possible. The first couple days you probably will spend a bit more time figuring out how to do some basic tasks that you can knock out really quick in CMD, but the time will be well spent and soon you will start to depend on PowerShell instead of CMD.
