We had a lot of prizes to give away as part of the 2008 Winter Scripting Games. If you missed out, be sure to come back in 2009 for your chance to win – something. (Also see the official rules, of course.)
The Dr. Scripto bobblehead doll is back, but this time he’s ready for the Scripting Games. 250 randomly-selected entrants will receive one of these collector’s items.

Everyone who enters the 2008 Scripting Games and receives a score of 60 points or more in any one division will receive a special Certificate of Achievement, personally signed by the Scripting Guys. You’re eligible for a certificate in as many divisions as you decide to enter, which means you could potentially win up to six certificates!

At least 12 randomly-selected winners will receive one of these fabulous prizes from our valued partner and sponsor Sapien Technologies:
| • | PrimalScript Professional 2007 (2 winners) | ||||||
| • | PrimalScope 2008 (2 winners) | ||||||
| • | Windows PowerShell v1.0: TFM (2nd edition) by Don Jones and Jeffery Hicks (3 winners) | ||||||
| • | WSH and VBScript Core: TFM by Jeffery Hicks (2 winners) | ||||||
| • | ADSI Scripting: TFM by Cade Fassett (2 winners) | ||||||
| • | Sapien Polo Shirts (4 winners) | ||||||

If you’re even a little bit interested in Group Policy and/or Windows PowerShell, you’ll want to enter the 2008 Scripting Games simply for your chance at being the lucky winner of this prize from our good friends at Special Operations Software. (Not that the bobblehead alone wasn’t enough, of course, but this is pretty cool too.)
| • | Specops Command (multiple licenses) |

Fabulous, incredible, great…we’re starting to run out of adjectives to adequately describe the prizes donated by our sponsors this year. Shell Tools is offering these great prizes:
| • | PowerShell Analyzer (5 winners) |
| • | SystemScripter (5 winners) |

Yes, believe it or not, Microsoft has pitched in and donated some software to the Scripting Games. And we’re not talking about a few dusty copies of Microsoft Bob or even Microsoft Windows ME someone found lying around in their office. The Windows Vista team has donated 50 – yes five-oh, fifty – copies of Windows Vista Ultimate.

The wonderful people at ActiveState have joined in on all the fun and donated two very impressive prize packages. Each prize packages consists of:
| • | Perl Dev Kit license voucher |
| • | ActiveState mug |
| • | ActiveState T-shirt |

The Scripting Guys have teamed up with TechNet Magazine and, working closely with Culminis, are bringing you the User Group Challenge. What can you win as part of this challenge? How about this:
| • | A trophy to the winning user group |
| • | Individual awards to each member of the winning user group who enters the 2008 Scripting Games (and identifies him or herself as a member of that group.) |
No, we’re not giving away copies of Windows PowerShell. That would be a little silly since Microsoft already gives that away for free anyway. But what we are doing, thanks to the Windows PowerShell Team, is giving away Windows PowerShell T-Shirts to some lucky winners of the Windows PowerShell 2.0 Challenge.

Jim Wightman, who’s actually competing in the Games, has donated 5 copies of his book Pro SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. This book “will show you how to develop and deploy enterprise SSIS solutions in multibillion–item environments.” (Based on the number of Scripting Games submissions we’ve received so far, the Scripting Guys could use a book like this ourselves.) For more information, and to download a sample chapter, visit the Apress Web site.
The generosity of TechNet Magazine knows no bounds. (Well, it does, but we won’t talk about that.) Not only are they the sponsors of the User Group Challenge (see above), but they also agreed to sponsor the Sudden Death Challenge. Winners of the Sudden Death Challenge will receive T-shirts, compliments of TechNet Magazine.
