How to Get Windows PowerShell 2.0 CTP
Before Downloading and Installing Windows PowerShell Version 2.0 CTP
Just like Windows PowerShell 1.0, version 2.0 requires the .NET Framework 2.0, so if you don’t have it you’ll need to download and install the RTM (release-to-manufacturing) version of .NET Framework 2.0. Note that, in some cases, .NET Framework 2.0 can conflict with applications that require .NET Framework 1.1; because of that, you might consider installing Windows PowerShell on a test computer.
Some new features of Windows PowerShell 2.0 require .NET Framework 3.0. If you want to use either the Graphical PowerShell feature or the Out-GridView cmdlet, you’ll need to first download and install the .NET Framework 3.0. The same note we just mentioned in regards to upgrading the .NET Framework applies here. Note that if you’re running Windows Vista you already have the .NET Framework 3.0 installed.
Windows PowerShell 1.0 and Windows PowerShell 2.0 Community Technology Preview (CTP) cannot run on the same computer. You must uninstall Windows PowerShell 1.0 before installing the version 2.0 CTP.
