This guide provides the methodologies and considerations for planning a messaging service that applies to specific scenario requirements using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. It provides specific design options for implementation of an enterprise-scale messaging service, based on the Woodgrove National Bank scenario described in the Introduction to Messaging Services document. This guide also provides the reasoning behind the design choices that were made for each component of the messaging service and guidance for validating the design.

This guide should be used in conjunction with the Messaging Services Blueprint , which provides specific guidance on the service requirements, physical design, design options, selected design options (with rationale), and testing information.
