To get the most reliable Exchange 2003 server operation, it might be necessary to properly configure a number of system memory attributes, depending on the physical memory and operating system on this server. These attributes include the:
- /3GB flag in the boot.ini file
- /USERVA flag in the boot.ini file (not applicable on Windows 2000 servers)
- SystemPages registry value (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management)
- HeapDeCommitFreeBlockThreshold registry value (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager)
Details on these attributes and their optimal configuration are in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 815372.
The MSExchangeIS 9665 event is issue during each Exchange startup when the above attributes are scanned and matched against their optimal settings.
