Compatibility of Bluetooth Devices with Microsoft Products

Testing Criteria: Fully Compatible:Sync, print, or file exchange with the Bluetooth device work as documented AND at least to the minimum capability described below. It may be necessary to use the linked how-to article to get the device working, if any special settings need to be configured. Link must be found in the included documentation or software. Link should take you to within 3 clicks of the actual instructions needed. Sync - contacts must be able to synchronize 3 times in a row (breaking the Bluetooth connection and suspending PC in between each attempt). If calendar exists on the device, it must also be able to synchronize 3 times in a row (breaking the Bluetooth connection and suspending PC in between each attempt. Print - the MSN home page must be able to print 3 times in a row (breaking the Bluetooth connection and suspending PC in between each attempt). File exchange - for phones with built-in cameras, a photo must be able to transfer to the PC (breaking the Bluetooth connection and suspending PC in between each attempt). For PDA’s a photo must be able to transfer to the PDA (breaking the Bluetooth connection and suspending PC in between each attempt). Somewhat Compatible: One of more of the following apply: 1. Sync, print, or file exchange work as described above, but a software or hardware upgrade is necessary for full functionality. All software and hardware upgrades must be accessible via the internet. 2. Sync, print, or file exchange work as described above, but a PC reboot is required before attempting, with no suspending of the PC before attempting. 3. Sync, print, or file exchange work as described above, but some remaining Bluetooth functionality described in documentation does not work. 4. Sync, print, or file exchange work as described above, but link was not found in documentation or software, or link took you more than 3 clicks away from actual instructions needed. 5. Sync, print, or file exchange work as described above, but not more than once in a row. 6. Sync, print, or file exchange do NOT work as described above, but remaining Bluetooth capability works as documented. Not Compatible: All other cases *Connections include: wireless connections to Bluetooth printers that use the Hardcopy Cable Replacement profile (HCRP); wireless modem connections to Bluetooth cell phones that use the Dial Up Networking profile (DUN); wireless connections to Bluetooth mouse and keyboard products that use the Human Interface Device profile (HID); wireless connections to devices that use the Serial Port profile (SPP), the Object Push profile (OPP), or the Personal Area Networking profile (PANU role). |
