Output Window
The Output Window lists all compilation messages (errors, warnings) VOLT sends to the user. It is brought up every time a compile command is issued.
Clicking on a compilation error or warning brings up the tool associated with the glyph/ glyph group/ lookup that caused the problem.
Compilation Errors
This list of possible compilation errors is probably incomplete and will be added to in the future. Note that only VOLT errors listed below are reported to the users: if VOLT compilation to TTO assembler has been successful, no errors or warning are expected to result from the process of running TTOASM.
VOLT Errors
- Glyph name XXX not recognized
- Name conflict: duplicate glyph name XXX
- Name conflict: duplicate lookup name XXX
- Group nesting too deep
- Glyph XXX is classified ambiguously as a <mark> and a <base glyph> at the same time
- Group XXX cannot be used as a mark classifier because it contains non-mark glyphs
- Groups XXX and YYY intersect and cannot be used as different mark classifiers at the same time. They both contain glyph M
- Inconsistent substitution types in lookup XXX
- Glyph groups referenced in lookup XXX have different cardinalities
- Lookup XXX: cannot achieve desired transformation using lookups listed
- Lookup XXX: referenced lookup name YYY not recognized
- Ambiguous transformation specified in lookup XXX
- Glyph groups XXX and YYY intersect and cannot be used in the same lookup LLL. They both contain glyph G
- Conflicting ligature caret information found for glyph L in lookups XXX and YYY
- Conflicting CMAP entries found for glyphs XXX and YYY
- Warning: the substitution in lookup XXX does not preserve the total number of components
- Warning: the type of glyph G is not consistent with the Unicode classification of its CMAP entry
- Warning: the lookup LLL cannot be used in a context substitution XXX because it is not comprised of uniform substitutions (VOLT restriction)
- Warning: the lookup LLL cannot be used in a context substitution XXX because it does not skip the glyphs skipped by XXX (VOLT restriction)
