The font contains a wide variety of Web-related images of the kind found in common use across the Web, as well as some more unusual drawings. User Interface icons suitable for creating page navigation elements are also included.
Webdings is ideal for enriching the appearance of a Web page. Because it’s a font, it can be installed on the user’s system, (or embedded in the document itself) is fully scaleable and quick to render. It’s a perfect way of including graphics on your site without making users wait for lots of graphic files to download. Each Webding’ has been fine-tuned to ensure high quality and clarity on the screen, regardless of the complexity of the individual symbol.
Webdings is a result of a collaborative effort between Microsoft’s Vincent Connare - the designer of Comic Sans MS and Trebuchet MS - and top Monotype designers Sue Lightfoot, Ian Patterson and Geraldine Wade.

Version 1.03 - Webdings version 1.03 is a minor update. A digital signature was added to the font file.
Version 1.01 - Webdings was added to our core fonts for the Web on 4 June 1997 and was also added to the core fonts installed with Internet Explorer 4.0 on 14 July 1997.
