The Typocrafters was founded in Chicago in 1937 by J. L. Frazier and others interested in 'the art and craft of printing and its history, type and typography, fine books, great printers, lettering, and binding.' Meeting mostly in the Midwest, the Typocrafters has met annually with the exception of a few years during World War Two. There are no bylaws, no official membership, no dues, no officers, and no ceremonies. Some attendees produce a keepsake for exchange, others do not. One of the reasons Typocrafter gatherings have endured is that they demand nothing more from an individual than to have an interest and to show up. More details...

An international Conference on the theme 'Identity/Integrity' is being planned by the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) to take place in Brno, Czech Republic on 19 and 20 June, 2002. The Icograda Conference will be held concurrently with the 20th Brno Biennial, as a part of an exciting week of design events at the 'centre of Europe'. The Conference venue will be the Brno City Theatre.

TypeSHED11 , a full programme constructed from lectures, workshops, exhibitions and installations will create the possibility for social and intellectual exchange with passionate typographers and designers from about the world – Europe, the Americas, Asia, Pacific, Australia and New Zealand.

At Type Camp Galiano, 9-14 August 2009, differing and convergent approaches to typography will be presented in a relaxed but structured program over five days. The instructors this year are: Dr Shelley Gruendler, international typography instructor and founder of Type Camp; Stephen Coles, Type Director at FontShop; the well-known typographic expert aka “TypeGirl”, Tiffany Wardle; and a visit from international type superstar, Marian Bantjes. All four will share their professional processes and typographic knowledge to help you become a better typographer and designer.
