Justin Howes is leaving London's Type Museum to pursue other typographic research activities.
Owing in part to growing commitments and interests elsewhere -- notably, postgrad research at the University of Reading, and a hugely complicated book design for BMC XI England, the Catalogue of Books printed in the XV Century now in the British Library -- I decided earlier this month to quit the Type Museum, and had my last day there today. I'll be joining the staff of the Museum Plantin-Moretus for six months at the end of February, to assist in the museum's long-standing programme of research into Plantin's types, and then hope to pursue research full-time at Reading.
