Checking your fonts

Most TrueType fonts can be embedded using WEFT, however some fonts have been designated as 'no embedding' fonts by their designers. Other fonts may be rejected by the utility because coding problems have been identified. WEFT has a feature which checks the embeddability of all the fonts installed on your system. Use this feature to pick embeddable fonts before starting work on a project.

The 'View Available Fonts' option analyzes the fonts installed on your system and reports their embedding permissions. A report is generated similar to that shown in figure 1.

Here each font used is flagged with a "traffic" light.

Font check reportokay to embed. These fonts have their embedding permissions set to allow embedding and have passed error checks.

Font check reportWindows core font. These fonts have been identified as common core fonts. Embedding these fonts is not recommended.

Font check report'no embedding' font. These fonts have their embedding permissions set to 'no embedding'.

Font check reportfont may be broken! These fonts cannot be embedded because they have failed error tests.

Font check reportstatus unknown. WEFT is unable to examine the font file because it isn't properly listed in the Windows registry.
