Session 1: Unified Communications: Office Communications Server 2007 Architecture and Deployment
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 (unified client) deliver streamlined, real-time communications. This session will walk you through a number of the components you'll need to deploy Office Communications Server 2007, starting with the planning and deployment guide, instruction for Standard Edition installation, details about user provisioning and entitlement, configuration, and finally validation. This session will cover the easy setup of Office Communications Server 2007 Standard Edition, as well as complex installation topologies recommended for Office Communications Server 2007, including considerations for Enterprise Edition deployment, Edge server roles, MCU roles, Mediation server and the Archiving server role. Additionally, attendees will learn about the Federation and Public Internet Connectivity features of Office Communications Server 2007.
Session 2: Unified Communications: The UC Administration Experience
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Office Communications Server 2007 work together to provide a full spectrum of communications tools. This session is designed to show IT Administrators how the management experience in Office Communicator 2007 is aligned with that in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1. This session will walk through the MMC console, explore command-line interfaces, and implement functionality such as user/device provisioning and enablement, managing dialing rules, and normalization. It will also provide details about monitoring Office Communications Server 2007 with MOM 2005, and integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1.
Session 3: Unified Communications: VoIP Architecture, Topologies, and Interoperability
Network Managers and IT Administrators will get a detailed look at the VoIP architecture of Office Communications Server 2007, and learn about the network requirements for implementing Office Communications Server 2007 in the data network. This session will explain the Microsoft user-focused approach to quality with Office Communications Server 2007, describe the core media stack and codecs used for VoIP in Office Communications Server 2007, and walk through network provisioning for enterprise deployments of Office Communications Server 2007. Attendees will learn about basic telephony deployment scenarios and options for more complex configurations through demos about voice configuration and management, and administrative tools. This session will also explore RouteHelper and scenarios for implementing key deployment functionality such as dial plans, new site deployment, least cost routing, and 911 routing.
Session 4: Unified Communications: Security and Compliance
This session introduces new security and compliance features in Exchange Server 2007, Office Communications Server 2007, and Exchange Hosted Services. Attendees will explore journaling functionality, including journaling from managed folders, AS/AV capabilities in Exchange Transport, encryption, message classification, and policy rules for compliance in Exchange Server 2007. A tour into Exchange Hosted Services Administrator Console will examine the key configuration options for Exchange Hosted Filtering, including Exchange Hosted Archive message search, retrieval, and quarantine. This session will also provide details about Office Communications Server 2007 federation, encryption, anti-spam, routing, and archiving.

Jon Roskill
Corporate Vice President, US Business & Marketing Organization
Jon Roskill is the corporate vice president of the Business & Marketing Organization for Microsoft in the U.S. In that role he leads the teams responsible for all marketing activities for Microsoft's commercial products (everything except Xbox & MSN). Previously he was general manager of Developer and .NET Enterprise Server marketing at Microsoft, where he led a team responsible for the marketing and product management of the industry-leading Microsoft SQL Server database software, Microsoft's Internet server products - Commerce Server, BizTalk Server and Application Center - and the Microsoft family of component-based development tools, lead by Microsoft Visual Studio, together used by 85 percent of professional developers worldwide.
Roskill has worked at Microsoft since 1993. Prior to that, he was a marketing manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he worked on projects including the Digital AlphaPC and Digital's Fault Tolerant line of computers. He received a B.S.E.E. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and an M.B.A. from Boston University.
